Wolf Parade's music is so energetic, and its vocalist so forceful, that listeners both listen and feel the music. Indeed, singer Dan Broeckner's delivery is sometimes so powerful and fast that is hard to makeout the lyrics, such as in "Modern World." But several repeat plays reveal that Wolf Parade lives in a word full of ghosts and nightmares. Sometimes , as in I'll Believe In Anything,"their songs have the feeling of an aural séance, conjuring trances and states. But other times, Wolf Parade rocks out with guitar and synthesiser-lead stompers, especially "Fancy Claps" and "Shine A Light." These songs are particularly successful as they manage to channel both the psychic weirdnes of a band like Wilco and the stadium rock of Arcade Fire and create a sound entirely their own.
