Ingrid Lucia & The Flying Neutrinos - Don't StopEver been staggering drunk through the streets of New Orleans and you couldn't find your friends because one of them went back to the hotel with some boy they just met and your other friend went to go buy a new T-shirt because he had taken off his other one due to the heat and humidity and lost it? If you haven't, then drink a summery rum drink and put on this CD. Ingrid Lucia & The Flying Neutrinos sounds in their 2007 album Don't Stop are the perfect, truly authentic accompaniment to a raucous evening in The Big Easy.

Front woman Ingrid Lucia melts into your ears while keeping her songs upbeat and spicy. Her vocals are classic jazz and she manages to put a rockabilly spin on them that is super fun and comes off very genuine. Much like Jenny Lewis and Rilo Kiley, Lucia's voice is a storyteller's voice. Strong. Distinctive. I want to hear every lyric that she lets gently slip from her lips. of

On "Hometown Blues", she tells of how she loves The South, but every trip back home just makes her feel sad. "Big Long Sliding Thing" is an obvious analogy to getting some heavy, hot loving. The trombone work in this song is outstanding. "Margie" lets the male melodies of The Flying Neutrinos really shine. My favorite track, "New Orleans" is called that for a good reason - it is the heartfelt beat of a city full of greatness. Ingrid is a local in NOLA, so she should know! I hope I see her there next time I go so we can share some crawfish!
