While That Girl lacks anything especially innovative or surprising, save for the collaboration with MC Ren "Bangin'," which features some unique samples. Otherwise, her beats are remiscent of club- and radio-friendly hip-hop: loud, brassy, and fun — but ultimately as fleeting as last night. There are some notable exceptions that save the album, though from total glossiness. "Work A Twist," a collabroation with E-40, is biting. "Handclap" is, on the surface at least, another glossy track — but its lyrics and samples are unique enough to distinguish it. "Be Like Me" is upbeat and features a cameo from Nelly, but "Fly Chick" is even more memorable, and features The Transitions. However there are some tracks that get somewhat annoying in their repetition of lines and chorus; the title track, "That Girl," grows old very quickly and "When I Bust" has an overly repetative refrain that only serves to end an otherwise great album on a poor note.
